Newport Junior Football League
Newsletter – October 2025
It’s a spooky start to our October Newsletter. The pumpkins have taken over our logo.
Footwear on 3G
We have sent this reminder out many times and it is still being ignored. The correct footwear must be worn by anyone accessing the 3G pitches at both of our venues.
Going forward:
Anyone not wearing correct footwear, whether a child or coach, will not be allowed onto the 3G
We have been warned by the venues on several occasions
We will not lose these venues due to people ignoring the rules
Rubbish removal also applies at all times.
This includes:
Water bottles
Drinking bottles
Any other waste
Under no circumstances is smoking or vaping allowed once you have entered these venues.
Dogs
Our lovable furry friends are not allowed on:
School premises
Any of our 3G locations
This rule is non-negotiable.
Behind the Line
This is another repeat notice and is a FAW rule.
League Officials will be attending games on Sundays. Any team found without:
A barrier, or
A coned spectator area
Will face disciplinary action.
We do not want to take these steps, but clubs and parents must now take this seriously.
All League Officials will be wearing ID badges.
Team Sheets
Much improved this month. Well done to everyone. It makes our job easier and ensures everyone is playing safely.
One important reminder:
The coach must be pitch-side to submit the team sheet
Do not forget the time window for submission
Home Grounds
If a team wishes to move to a new venue for a Sunday fixture:
Permission must be gained from the Fixture Secretary for that age group
Teams are not allowed to rearrange venues without approval
Referees and Assistant Referees
We must remind everyone of the correct role of a club assistant referee in junior football across the Gwent area.
Club assistants are only allowed to:
Signal when the ball is out of play
Indicate which side takes the throw-in
They are NOT allowed to:
Flag for offside under any circumstances
The only exception is when there is a full team of GCFA official assistants appointed by the parent league.
If a referee asks a club assistant to flag for offside, this must be refused.
Dragons and NexGen – Dual Registration
Many thanks to Gloucester FA for confirming what we have advised for a long time regarding dual registration.
A message has been sent to the Club Secretaries of:
NexGen Youth FC
Dragons Football Academy Youth FC
Parents and carers of players living in Wales with International Clearance to play in England are reminded:
Their child cannot play for a grassroots football team in Wales unless they:
De-register from their English club, and
Apply for clearance to play in Wales
Guidance can be found here:https://playerstatus.thefa.com/support/solutions/articles/80001135173-what-is-international-clearance-itc-including-minor-applications
