Well Done, Coach!
We do not often receive praise about individual coaches, so when our League Safeguarding Officer witnessed something special, it absolutely deserved recognition.
In Laura’s words:
“I attended the matches at Sifil this morning and witnessed one of the best team talks I’ve heard so far this season. The coach's approach was both sympathetic and encouraging, a perfect balance that clearly resonates with the players. It was wonderful to see how engaged and positive the children were under his guidance. He is truly a credit to the club and to the Under 8s team. Thank him for his dedication, enthusiasm, and the positive example he is setting for the young players.”
An outstanding example of how junior football should be led.
🗑 Litter
All teams must ensure that any litter is removed from pitch areas and 3G pitches after use.
Newport City Council Parks Department will be checking for litter. Any club found to be leaving rubbish by the pitches will be banned from booking NCC pitches in Newport for a period of one month.
The above wording comes directly from the NCC Parks Department and will be enforced!
📩 Complaints
League officials are now spending a growing amount of time dealing with complaints via email. Some of these are becoming extremely frivolous and are taking up far too much of our time.
Going forward, Rule 29 – Protests and Complaints must be followed. If this procedure is not followed correctly, emails will not be responded to.
🆕 New Teams – Entry Deadline
If you wish to enter new mini teams into the fixtures for the New Year, the cut-off date is 12th December 2025.
Please contact:
Ashley Bird for Under 6s to Under 8s
Steve Pitman for Under 9s to Under 11s
👕 Shirt Numbers – Competitive Games
All players must wear shirts with visible numbers, and these must match the player number entered on the COMET team sheet.
Failure to comply may result in disciplinary charges under the heading:“Falsifying a Match Report.”
🎨 Shirt Colours
Teams must not play in black or navy shirts. This rule includes goalkeeper shirts.
The away team must change in the event of a colour clash
EXCEPT where the home club intends to play in colours not registered with the league
In that situation, the home club must change
Teams may only play in colours approved by the League.
🚫 Dismissed Players
Under GCFA rules, any player dismissed by the referee must leave the pitch area and return to the changing rooms.
Where this is not possible in junior football, at minimum:
The dismissed player must stand behind the respect barrier
They must not be pitch-side for the remainder of the match
Additionally:
Spectators and parents must not approach the referee
Only the team coach may make enquiry to the referee
Failure to follow this guidance can result in disciplinary action against the club.
🚩 Assistant Referees – Flags
Rule 13.2 applies.
The home team is responsible for supplying flags to both assistant referees. It is not the referee’s responsibility to provide them.
This issue has occurred several times this season and must now be corrected by clubs.
